Xiaomi 17 Ultra debuts in China as a camera‑centric flagship

Add DeviceSpecifications as a preferred source on GoogleXiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi 17 Ultra as the pinnacle of its latest 17 series, centering the launch on a camera system developed in close collaboration with Leica. The phone's headline feature is a 50MP Light Hunter 1050L main shooter tuned with Leica optics, a move that signals Xiaomi's intent to compete directly with other photography‑focused flagships. The sensor has a 1" optical format and a 1.6 μm pixel size. It is paired with a 1G+6G Leica optics with an f/1.67 aperture.
The main shooter is accompanied by an advanced 200MP periscope telephoto camera with a macro mode and Leica APO-certified optics. Three special glass lenses work together to compensate for chromatic aberration, significantly reducing it. They are complemented by 5 plastic lens elements, achieving up to 4.3x optical zoom through the coordinated displacement of three groups of lenses, maintaining image clarity throughout. The telephoto camera has a variable aperture from f/2.39 to f/2.96 and a 300 mm focal length equivalent.
Finally, there's a 50MP ultra-wide shooter with a 5 cm macro mode, an f/2.2 aperture, 14 mm focal length equivalent, and autofocus. The 50MP front-facing camera also supports autofocus, digital image stabilization, and face unlock. Video recording is supported up to 8K at 30 fps and 4K at 60 fps. Xiaomi has also expanded the 17 Ultra family with a Leica Edition that bundles exclusive hardware and software tuning for photography enthusiasts.
Xiaomi has outfitted the 17 Ultra with a 6.9‑inch M10 OLED LTPO flat display that approaches 2K clarity with a resolution of 2608 × 1200 pixels and a pixel density of around 420 ppi. The panel is engineered for extreme brightness - reportedly peaking at 3500 nits - and supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision for high dynamic range content. The screen also features an adaptive refresh rate that ranges from 1 Hz to 120 Hz, along with advanced dimming technologies and ceramic glass protection, positioning the display among the most advanced currently available on Android flagships.
Among all else, Xiaomi equipped the 17 Ultra with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform to deliver top‑tier performance for imaging, gaming, and AI tasks. It is paired with 12GB/16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB/1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. A 6800 mAh battery promises extended real‑world endurance for heavy users and photographers. It supports 90W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 22.5W reverse wired and wireless charging.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra runs on Xiaomi HyperOS 3.0 and supports Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, Wi-Fi 7, and is fitted with dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and a USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 2 port with 10 Gbps, power delivery, and DP Alt Mode. Pricing of the 17 Ultra starts at CNY 6999.
