8849 Tank 3 Pro by Unihertz is built around a 6.79-inch IPS display with an FHD+ resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. The display panel is manufactured by TCL CSOT and uses Panda MN228 glass for protection. The Display settings offer standard features such as a brightness level bar, toggles for the night light, dark theme, and adaptive brightness, screen saver, screen timeout, font type and size, icon shape options, etc. The refresh rate menu is first in the list of display settings. An improvement over the Tank 3 is that now the Tank 3 Pro offers a 60Hz refresh rate and an adaptive refresh rate mode which allows the device to decide what refresh rate is most suitable to the content on display. The Tank 3 Pro has a very bright display that's comfortable to work with in a bright-lit outdoor environment. At the same time, with various features such as Night Light and Extra dim, you can adjust the display to your liking in a low-light environment. The maximum brightness of the display of our review unit is 733.422 cd/m² - almost the same as the one of the Tank 3 with 734.029 nits. After exploring both displays, we can conclude that the Tank 3 and the Tank 3 Pro use the same display panel. Our usual measurements of the white and black luminance, static contrast ratio, and color temperature of the display are published below. As usual, for a more realistic result, we measure them twice - on a single frame that displays 50% white and 50% black and on two separate frames displaying a fully white and a fully black screen.

We've noticed the same phenomenon on the Tank 3 Pro display like on the Tank 3 - the white luminance measured on two separate frames is slightly lower than the white luminance measured on a single frame showing 50% white and 50% black - that's 692.506 cd/m² against 733.422 cd/m², respectively. Usually, the two separate frames measurement shows the higher brightness. The black luminance levels from both types of measurements are also not very different from the ones of the vanilla model, hence, the static contrast ratio is not very different as well - around 1200:1. The temperature of the white point exceeds 12000 K.

Our brightness uniformity measurement shows that the display is not uniformly bright but the differences are not significant and not visible with the eyes. The top one-third of the display has an average brightness of 686 cd/m² which is the lowest of the three horizontal tiers. The middle one-third has an average brightness of 690 cd/m². The bottom one-third has an average brightness of 735 cd/m². The temperature of the white point is close to or exceeds 12000 K in all points of measurement. The CIE diagram shows that the display has a wider than 100% sRGB color space coverage. You will get puncher hues from the cyan, green, yellow, orange, and red color pallet, while the blue and magenta hues will be exact. The display panel has a traditional vertical striped RGB subpixel arrangement.
