Add DeviceSpecifications as a preferred source on GoogleThe Unihertz 8849 Tank X is a new ultra‑rugged smartphone, and its specifications paint the picture of a machine built less like a phone and more like a field‑ready powerhouse. Based on the Dimensity 8200 platform, it combines extreme durability, oversized battery capacity, and an unusually rich feature set aimed at professionals who work or find inspiration far from power outlets and controlled environments.
The device is physically imposing, measuring 180.5 × 91.8 × 31.9 mm and weighing 750 grams. Its half‑board, double‑sided mainboard layout hints at a tightly packed internal structure designed to support both high‑performance components and ruggedized hardware. On the front, a 6.78‑inch IPS display sits with an FHD+ resolution, 580 cd/m² brightness, and a 120 Hz refresh rate, balancing smooth visuals with durability.
Inside, the Dimensity 8200 chipset is paired with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage, placing the device firmly in flagship‑grade performance territory. The front camera uses a 50MP OmniVision OV50M40 sensor, while the rear system houses a 50MP IMX766 main camera, a 64 MP night‑vision module with four IR lights, and an 8MP SK Hynix HI-847 telephoto unit with 3x optical zoom.
A full suite of sensors, including a gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, ambient light, proximity, and a barometer, supports both navigation and field‑use scenarios. Charging capabilities are equally ambitious, with the dual-cell 17600 mAh battery supporting fast charging up to 120W and 10W reverse charging, effectively allowing the device to double as a power bank.
One of the Unihertz 8849 Tank X standout features is the integrated DLP projector, upping the resolution to 1080p and the luminance to 220 lumens with laser autofocus up to 3 meters. This positions the device as a portable presentation tool or on‑site display solution. It also includes a built‑in camping light system with RGB warning illumination, reinforcing its outdoor‑oriented identity.
Connectivity and expansion options include dual nano‑SIM or nano‑SIM plus microSD, hot‑swap support, USB‑C 2.0, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, NFC via a Unisoc THN31 chipset, and an infrared remote control. Audio is handled by a Smart PA speaker system with a 3.5 cc chamber and 97 dB output, while dual silicone noise‑reduction microphones enhance call clarity.
