Battery

Cubot X18 does not have any special battery saving features and applications that can manage battery life. It utilizes the default Android Battery menu, which includes a toggle for the standby intelligent power saving mode (switched on by default) and a toggle for showing the battery percentage in the status bar. The usual Battery saver and Battery optimization options are there along with a battery status monitor. There's a Schedule power on & off function, of course, and you can also play a bit with the Power notification controls from the System UI Tuner. They are grouped in 6 levels of importance, Level 0 being the most restrictive one. This model is equipped with a 3200 mAh Li-Ion battery placed in an aluminium shell. The unit is quite lightweight and thin. It can be easily removed after you remove the backplate and can be replaced if needed. There's a standard 5V/1A charging adapter adjoining it. All battery tests we run on the devices we review are developed by us and performed with the screen of the device being calibrated to 200 cd/m². Battery saving features are disabled. The battery of our review unit charged in full from 0% to 100% in 3 hours and 43 minutes. Charging happens at a steady speed and slows down only after the capacity reaches 90%. i.e. almost 3 hours after the start. The last 10% of the capacity are completed in 45 minutes. During charging, the battery does not get noticeably hot and this is proved by the battery temperature report. The temperature of the accumulator starts from 33°C and reaches gradually a peak of 35°C and after the capacity reaches 80%, it starts to drop. At the end of the charging process, the battery temperature measures 29°C. Battery life during browsing is quite reasonable - 5 hours and 47 minutes, which is an OK result for a 3200 mAh battery. Discharging is linear, only during the last few minutes it goes slower. The battery temperature starts from 30°C and in half an hour reaches 40°C. It fluctuates around this level throughout the remaining of the process until the end. The video test for battery life uses a 1080p video at 30 fps with a ~20Mbps rate is used. The 3200 mAh battery of our review unit discharged from 100% to 0% in 7 hours and 39 minutes. The process keeps one and the same speed from the start until the end. The battery temperature starts from 27°C and in half an hour reaches 35°C. It fluctuates around this level with a degree up or down until the end. For the 3D Graphics/Gaming test, the Epic Citadel's tech demo in its Guided Tour mode is used. The battery depleted in 4 hours and 30 minutes. The discharging graph shows no signs of slowing down or speeding up the process. The battery temperature starts from 29°C, which in 10 minutes reaches 40°C and then continues rising slowlier to 45°C at the end.
