Add DeviceSpecifications as a preferred source on GoogleVolla has announced the Volla Phone Plinius and its Volla Phone Plinius Plus, two new smartphones designed to merge rugged durability with minimalist elegance while emphasizing user privacy and long‑term sustainability. The vanilla model, available for pre‑order now, will launch in April 2026, while the Plinius Plus model will follow in June. The only differences between the two comprise in more RAM and storage for the Plus version, as well as an extra-tough rear shell with POGO pins for versatility.
The Plinius introduces a slim, lightweight construction that still meets IP68 standards for water and dust resistance. Unlike most sealed rugged phones, it features a user‑replaceable 5300 mAh battery, accessible with a standard screwdriver. A transparent back cover and armored glass film are included to boost impact and scratch protection, underscoring the device's outdoor‑ready positioning. The battery supports 30W wired and 15W Qi wireless charging.
The two Volla phones debut the brand's on‑device AI system. The Plinius models feature a triple‑camera setup with a 64MP main shooter, an 8MP ultra-wide unit, and a 2MP macro lens plus a 32MP selfie snapper. They introduce AI‑powered photo optimization that runs entirely offline. The company highlights that none of the AI processing leaves the device, reinforcing its privacy‑first philosophy.
The phone's 6.67‑inch FHD+ OLED display reaches up to 1000 nits peak brightness and supports use with gloves or wet hands - another nod to outdoor enthusiasts. Powered by the Mediatek Dimensity 7300 chipset with an integrated neural processing unit, the Plinius promises strong performance while maintaining energy efficiency. The vanilla model has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while the Plus model has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
Volla emphasizes that the device is manufactured in Germany using high‑quality components and automated robotics. The company claims its Google‑free software reduces data traffic by up to 80% compared to conventional smartphones, lowering environmental impact and improving user privacy. The Volla Cloud further distributes data processing across devices rather than centralized data centers.
Two operating systems are available: Volla OS, a Google‑free Android alternative with a simplified interface and built‑in security mode, and Ubuntu Touch, which enables desktop‑style convergence when connected to external peripherals. Users can switch between systems using a multi‑boot function. The Plinius is priced at €598. The Plinius Plus is priced at €698.
